8 Best USA Cities for Music Lovers

The USA is regarded by many to be the birthplace of blues, rock & roll, Jazz, country, soul, grunge & hip hop. On one of our USA road trips you can discover the the places behind the music either on a self drive or a fully escorted tour.

This article gives you an insight to our favourite USA music cities and are must visits on any America holiday.


No trip to Memphis is complete without the unforgettable tour of the world's most famous rock n roll residence, Elvis Presley's Graceland. We include this in most of our escorted tours and you can even have a private dinner in the house on selected tours! You can also see the amazing exhibits at the Stax Museum and learn more about the legends who recorded at Sun Studio. If you want to hear some live music then head for Beale Street and try out one of the many bars an venues along here.


Nashville is simply known as 'Music City'. Visit famous historic venues including the Ryman Auditorium, Grand Ole Opry and Bluebird Cafe. We also suggest visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame which has over 2.5 million artefacts. The Johnny Cash Museum is a great attraction too where you can pay homage to the man. AT the end of the day after you sightseeing though we suggest heading for the fantastically named 'Honky Tonk Highway' and have a beer at one of the many entertainment venues.


As the birthplace of country music, the town of Bristol hosts a museum dedicated tostoric recordings of some of the earliest country music in America. If you want something a little different from the music venues head for Dollywood Theme Park at the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains. This is Dolly Partons' own theme park with roller coasters, rides and of course entertainment venues.

New Orleans

With a fascinating music history originating from its multi cultural people, NOLA is the birthplace of Jazz and you can experience live music every night. Don't think that its just R&B, soul and rock here either as there is plenty of other genres including funk, reggae, rap and Cajun music styles that make up the eclectic scene.

Austin, Texas

Not commonly know for its musical heritage but it has a lively scene to be enjoyed and maybe combined with ranch holiday in the USA you will have an amazing time. Austin has over 250 live music venues - the most per capita of any USA city. You can find all styles of music here seven days a week!

Chicago & Other Cities
