Shopping in the USA

Holidays in the USA are all about different themes. Whether its Orlando for thrill rides, California for surfing or a pilgrimage to Graceland!

For a lot of our holidaymakers though a trip to America is all about the shopping and the bargains to be had. Although the exchange rate is not great at the moment there are still plenty of savings to be made when you visit one of the USA mega malls. Most people think of New York when shopping in America is mentioned and whilst it's fantastic destination for a bit of retail therapy there are plenty of other options across the USA that the USA Holiday Co recommend.

From large shopping malls & sprawling outlet centres to boutique shops along a quaint Main Street, there's no better place for a bit of retail therapy than the USA!

New York City

New York is everyone's favourite place to shop in the USA due to its diversity and iconic stores. From the flagship stores of international designers such as Tiffany and Gucci to well-loved mainstream shops, to independent boutiques tucked amongst the city neighbourhoods of Tribeca and Little Italy.

New York's famous department stores such as Macy's, Bloomingdale's and Saks Fifth Avenue have something for everyone and are destinations in themselves and a visit to the iconic Apple store is a must just off Central Park. The good thing about shopping in New York is that it is easy to get around with many stores all with walking distance of each other. Fifth Avenue is great for this.

With 2 major indoor shopping centres, The Florida Mall and the Mall at Millenia the shopping doesn't stop here. We also love the 3 other vast Outlet Villages which have all the brand names at discount prices as they have over 400 value packed stores. Parking is always free and plentiful at these outlets, just make sure you have a clear boot space for all the shopping bags!

The theme parks have also developed their own destination shopping areas too. Disney Springs and Universal City Walk outdoor shopping districts provide unique retails shops as part of the fun. We love Voodoo Doughnuts that opened last year in Universal City Walk as it has some amazing flavours!

Los Angeles

From window shopping on Rodeo Drive, made famous in the film 'Pretty Woman' to vintage stores in the L.A. neighbourhoods, to the sprawling outlets - L.A. is a shoppers mecca! At the USA Holiday Company we recommend you visit the following shopping places in Los Angeles - Beverley Centre, Fashion Island, Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade & Desert Hills Premium Outlets.

The Magnificent Mile is a walk-able boulevard in downtown Chicago including everything from popular brands to major department stores and luxury goods. Head to trendy State Street & Macy's or the indie retailers of the Wicker Park & Andersonville neighbourhoods for something a little different.

The Magnificent Mile area also has 3 large shopping centre malls and some of the best restaurants in the city.

Tax Free Shopping

A little tip for you if you want to save even more money and get added value on your shopping in the USA. IN the states of New Hampshire, Oregon, Montana, Delaware & Alaska you can take advantage of tax-free-shopping which is a nice little added bonus!

Mall Meccas

As the inventor of indoor shopping malls, America certainly has it covered! Two of the world's largest malls, Mall of America in Minnesota & the King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania are destinations in themselves. You need a good couple of days to do them justice in our opinion.

Contact us at the USA Holiday Company if you need any advice o the best way to shop in America as we are happy to help in any way we can.
